Crude Palm Oil Production

The cold process is the most basic batch process. It is to gradually add to the fat content in saponification vessel , the amount of soda lye just necessary to ensure complete saponification. The mixture is kept under vigorous stirring for about two hours and the colors, flavors and additives generally added at this stage .

The crude soap is withdrawn from the mass of the mixture thickens, and poured as such in the cooling molds in which the saponification process is continued for one to two days . Crude soap is then removed from the mold , cut into pieces , and headed to the finish line. It is advisable to filter the fat to prevent the formation of impurities and use of palm kernel oil to promote emulsification and facilitate the saponification. The process requires a mastery of the saponification process.

The process is simple , cheap and little mechanized. The equipment investment is modest. This is why it is particularly suitable for the manufacture of a semi handmade soap for customers with limited purchasing power , for example in rural areas.

Cold saponification process is the model used by the SOPALTO in its production process soap ..

The soap is then stored directly in the plant in boxes that can hold 12 or 24 units. A company truck load to route pieces soap boxes to wholesale customers who then sell them at retail markets .

Palm Kernel Oil Production

The palm kernel oil is extracted from the seeds of the oil palm . These seeds have a size of 1 to 2 cm . The seeds are dried and then pressed . The residual oil is often extracted using hexane. The properties of palm kernel oil are very similar to those of oil palm . Its stability is similar to that of coconut oil .

Palm kernel oil is an edible vegetable oil produced from the kernels of the oil palm seed, the Elaeis guineensis . Do not confuse this with the two other type of edible oils from palm fruits : coconut oil (or the copra) oil and palm oil extracted from the nuts of palm Elaeis guineensis and having the appearance of a semi- fluid mass , thick, yellow-orange , of sweetish taste , odor reminiscent of violets.

The palm kernel oil, coconut oil ( copra) oil and palm oil are three of the few highly saturated vegetable fats. The palm kernel oil, which is semisolid at room temperature , is more saturated than the palm and is comparable to the oil coconut. Like all vegetable oils, these three oils that are derived from fruits palm does not contain cholesterol (found in animal fats not refined ) , although saturated fat intake increases both types of cholesterol, LDL is bad for health and HDL is good .

The palm kernel oil is commonly used in the commercial kitchen because it is less expensive than other oils and is stable at high cooking temperatures . The oil can also be stored longer than other types of vegetable oils . The palm kernel oil contains no cholesterol or trans fat. The palm kernel oil is composed of fatty acids , esterified with glycerol , like any fat. It is rich in acids saturated fat, about 80%. The oil palm gives its name to palmitic acid, saturated fatty acid 16 carbons present in the palm kernel oil, palm oil and oil coconut.
